Explora el tour: Caño Cristales 4 DAYS

Immerse yourself in the natural magic of Caño Cristales, a one-of-a-kind place in the world where land, water, and life combine to create an unparalleled spectacle of color. Located in the Serranía de la Macarena, this Colombian river is famous for its vibrant hues — red, yellow, green, blue, and black — produced by Macarenia Clavigera, an aquatic plant that blooms between June and November.

Discover natural pools, crystal-clear waterfalls, and biodiversity-rich trails that connect you with the deepest essence of nature. Ideal for hikers, ecotourism enthusiasts, and seekers of authentic experiences, Caño Cristales is much more than a destination: it is a place to reconnect with life.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF LA MACARENA AND VISIT TO CRISTALITOS VIEWPOINT

  • Your journey begins in La Macarena, where your assigned guide will be waiting upon arrival. After dropping off your luggage at the hotel, your day's adventure begins at Puerto Inderena or Puerto Tigres, where you'll board a boat along the Guayabero River for approximately 20 minutes to Puerto Cristalitos, followed by a 30-minute walk to Caño Cristalitos — a small river of crystal-clear waters with natural pools, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the surroundings. Lunch is served here as a traditional "fiambre," wrapped in banana leaves. After the excursion, you'll return to La Macarena by the same route to rest and have dinner.

DAY 02: CAÑO CRISTALES

  • After breakfast, you'll head to Puerto Inderena to board a boat along the Guayabero River for approximately 25 minutes to Puerto Los Mangos, where environmental authorities have a checkpoint. From there, you'll board a 4x4 vehicle (approximately 40 minutes) to the trailhead leading to Caño Cristales. This is where the day's hike begins. You'll explore various attractions along this incredible river, visiting spots such as Los Hoyos, Los Pianos, La Piscina del Turista, Los Cuarzos, and Paso de la Danta, among others — where you can snorkel, swim, and admire the Macarenia Clavigera that fills this place with color, as well as take photos, enjoy waterfalls, and discover unique natural settings. Please note that throughout the excursion, you'll be able to swim in designated areas, which your guide will always point out. Lunch is also enjoyed during the tour, served as a traditional fiambre wrapped in banana leaves. After an afternoon immersed in nature, you'll return to La Macarena for dinner.

  • After breakfast, you and your guide will head to board a boat along the Guayabero River to the village of La Cachivera. From there, you'll ride on horseback for approximately 45 minutes to Laguna del Silencio, where you'll hop aboard a "potrillo" (traditional canoe) to explore this peaceful place. Laguna del Silencio, true to its name, is a place of complete calm — perfect for relaxing and birdwatching. Lunch will be enjoyed at a nearby farm, where you can rest in hammocks while listening to the sounds of nature. Afterward, you'll make your way back to La Macarena by the same route for dinner.

Here you'll have the opportunity to spot pink dolphins, also known as freshwater dolphins. Throughout the journey, you'll enjoy sightings of the flora and fauna that define the Serranía de la Macarena, including birds, turtles, caimans, and other species.
